Do I need e-pass to Claim Motor Insurance in Lockdown Period?

There has been a confusion among policyholders whether an e-pass is required to file a motor insurance claim amidst lockdown period. 

As govt has mandated e-pass for travel across the interstate or within the state, Insurance companies don't ask for e-pass while the claim is filed. Insurers rely on the utmost faith of the policyholder. 

Bajaj Allianz has said it did not repudiate any claim based on e-pass. Insured mentions the location of the accident in the claim form. Insurers then co-relates it with the supporting document. But an e-pass is not a mandatory document required to be submitted.  

Some people drive the vehicle without any reason on the road in the containment zone. And when an accident happens, the claim may not be payable. Local regulations should always be maintained. 

Some are unable to maintain their vehicle due to lockdown. For example, if brakes are malfunctioning and the vehicle was plying on road due to emergency work and the vehicle meets with an accident, the coverage for brakes will not be applicable but the damages resulting will be covered, says insurers. 

It is important to mention all the details in the claim form for quick and speedy processing of the claim.
